November 29, 2025 – Vienna, Austria – The Filipino Visual Artists in Austria (FVAA) proudly celebrated its 6th anniversary on November 29, 2025, with an inspiring and well-attended event at Youinion Hall in Vienna’s 9th District. Art lovers, Filipino community leaders, and friends gathered to honor six years of creativity, collaboration, and cultural advocacy within the Filipino-Austrian community.

The celebration also marked the official opening of FVAA’s latest group exhibition, featuring the works of talented member-artists: Alma Laurian Pajer, Anna Yacat, Benedikt Valdres, Cecilia Prinz, Gerry de Guzman, Gizelle Khan, Imelda Perez-Papai, Jam Fernandez-Matsunaga, KC Cruz, Lisa Pangan, Luya Mert, Randy Ilagan, Rose Neumann, Sheng DCF, Siony Schaitl, and Vincent Banacia. The exhibit showcased a diverse range of paintings and mixed-media works, each reflecting the artists’ unique journeys, perspectives, and cultural roots.

Following a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony led by special guests and FVAA President Gerry de Guzman, attendees were invited to view the exhibition displayed throughout the reception area of Younion Hall. In his welcome remarks, de Guzman highlighted FVAA’s mission of nurturing Filipino artists in Austria, especially emerging talents seeking to develop their skills. He emphasized the group’s ongoing commitment to offering free painting lessons and building a space where creativity can flourish regardless of background or experience.

After a sumptuous dinner, guests were treated to a series of motivational messages. Journalist and long-time community supporter Hector Pascua praised FVAA for its unwavering dedication to elevating Filipino art on the European stage. “FVAA’s mission has always been clear,” Pascua said. “It’s about helping Filipino artists grow, but also about sharing Filipino culture with Europe—with heart, humor, and the resilience that Filipinos are known for. Every artwork presented tonight proudly declares: ‘This is us. This is Filipino art.’”

Representing the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, Chryzl Sicat reflected on the deeper role of art in society. “Art is somewhat political in nature—not because of colors alone, but because of its breadth and its ability to help us relate, connect, understand, and be understood,” she noted. Sicat encouraged FVAA to continue striving for greater milestones in promoting Filipino artistry in Austria.

The evening concluded with the artists presenting their individual works to the audience, followed by the awarding of Certificates of Recognition honoring their contributions and creative achievements. In her heartfelt acknowledgement, FVAA Vice President Imelda Perez-Papai expressed gratitude to guests, sponsors, and fellow members for their unwavering support throughout the group’s six-year journey. Marizel Rojas moderated the event.

Austrianpress.com extends its warmest congratulations to Gerry de Guzman, the FVAA officers, and the entire membership on this remarkable milestone. As FVAA continues to grow, its members remain steadfast ambassadors of Filipino creativity—proving that wherever Filipinos go, art will always follow.
